When Milan and his team from Dog Rescue Shelter Serbia spotted two dogs by the side of the road, they immediately noticed two things: the dogs were extremely happy to see them, and one appeared to have just given birth. Dog Rescue Shelter wrote, “We came across two dogs by the side of the road, and their happiness when we stopped melted our hearts. The black-and-white dog immediately caught our attention, her lowered mammary glands told us she was a nursing mother.”
Milan approached the two dogs and set out food, which they eagerly began eating. The black-and-white dog was very affectionate, running over for cuddles and pets. When Milan asked her where her babies were, she immediately led him to them.
She trusted Milan enough to let him approach the puppies, but she was still protective and growled at the cameraman. To keep everyone calm, Milan took the mother to the rescue van first and then returned for her puppies, who appeared to be only around two weeks old.
With the mother and all of her puppies safely secured, the team turned their attention to the black dog. She was wary and did not want to be approached, so Milan promised he would come back for her.
The team returned the next day, by which time snow had begun to fall. Milan set a humane trap and placed food inside for her. Then they moved away and watched, hoping she would enter. It took some time, and she did everything she could to avoid the trap, but hunger eventually coaxed her inside and she was safely caught
