When Zack from Marley’s Mutts took in Henry, the senior dog was about 16 years old. He was blind in one eye, had cancer, and struggled to walk. Zack figured he could at least give Henry a few good weeks or however much time he had left.

The first night at home, Henry was in pain whenever he was moved. But the next morning, something changed—he perked up. After visiting the vet and beginning treatment for his cancer, Henry started moving more easily and exploring his new home. Before long, he was even running around with a little “gallop.”

Henry soaked up every bit of love and attention. Just being loved seemed to turn him into a puppy again. That’s when Zack realized Henry wasn’t going to be a hospice case after all—he still had plenty of life left to live.

Henry was eventually adopted into a loving family, where he enjoyed a full and happy year and a half before crossing the Rainbow Bridge.
