Danielle Neiner, one of the volunteers, said that they finally managed to catch Bear with a large trap. Bear was very dirty, matted and underweight but he didn’t have any health problems. He also had a microchip.
When Ross received the call that Bear had been found she was stunned. “Oh my gosh, I was literally bawling my eyes out,” she told WKBT News 8. “It’s so crazy that he survived for two years in the Colorado weather.”
Since Bear’s rescue, Ross said she’s been video chatting with him. She will be seeing him in person soon because he will arrive in New York any day now, thanks to community members who arranged and paid for his transport.
