Rescuers in Greece, foreigners who volunteer in animal welfare, and people who have adopted Greek strays are being systematically harassed, slandered and hunted down by an extreme minority, but also by the authorites and even the political system. Adoptions are being purposedly blocked, shelters are being closed down, and rehoming is being called "smuggling". The animal welfare volunteers in Greece are seeking international attention, and they recently wrote an open letter to the goverment, co-signed by nearly 200 charities, explaining how adoption is not trafficking.
