A black Lab at a no-kill shelter in Louisiana knows the key to getting adopted: Charm the pants off of everyone who comes in.
Berreaux currently calls Humane Society of Northwest Louisiana in Shreveport home — but he's hoping a nice family will adopt him soon.
And to convince them to pick him over the other pups, Berreaux flashes a goofy smile at anyone who comes over to talk to him.
Say cheese! Berreaux was taken in
by the Humane Society of Northwest Louisiana in Shreveport at eight
weeks old and loves to smile
The shelter shared a video of Berreaux's smiling face on February 22, writing that Burreaux was 'begging for attention.'
In just a week, it's been viewed over a quarter of a million times, and photos of Burreaux have earned thousands of likes.
Courtney Wingate, the director of the Humane Society of Northwest Louisiana, told The Dodo that Burreaux came to the shelter at just eight weeks old.
She'd seen him with two other puppies — named Joe and O — in a kennel and brought them in.
There
she noticed something funny about Burreaux: When a person uses a high
voice to talk to him and tell him he's a 'good boy,' the dog smiles.
'It’s
whenever you’re talking real sweet to him… he gets this smile like he
wants something,' said volunteer Sarah Walton. '[It’s] like he’s telling
you,"‘Come pet me, come love me."'

Viral: They're hoping that the trick will help get him adopted and posted video online
They're
hoping that the trick will help get him adopted — particularly because
something similar worked for his brother. When the shelter shared a
video of Joe playing fetch on Facebook, he quickly found a home.
'We
were thinking, "Burreaux wants a home so bad that he’s always smiling,
trying to cute it up,"' Walton added. 'So we took that video and now
it’s going viral.'
In October, an Aussiepoo mix from Seattle named Nori went viral for his very human-like face and adorable smile.
Nori's owners, Kevin Hurless, 33, and Tiffany Ngo, 34, shared a photo on twitter that racked up thousands of likes.
'When
he was a puppy, we couldn't go more than a block without someone
stopping us to ask questions about him,' Kevin said. 'It has become less
frequent as he's gotten older, but we still often hear about how human
his face and eyes look.

'When
he was a puppy, his fur was much darker, and he often was compared to
Chewbacca or an Ewok, which are characters in Star Wars.
Nori, a Toy Australian Shepard and Toy Poodle mix, even has his own Instagram account.
'That's
where we get all the comments about his human features, with some
people saying he looks like a giant person, or they're marveling at his
eyes,' said Tiffany.
'Nori is
incredibly sweet and friendly, and very energetic and playful,' she
added. 'He loves all people and dogs that he meets, and just wants to be
friends with everyone.'
Kevin admitted they were surprised by the attention Nori got online.
'But
we remember being dogless and wanting to pet all of the dogs, so we try
to be friendly and let people meet him as much as possible,' he said.
